The photo featured with this song is a Magpie feather from the Gaelic homeland. I was always taught to be ashamed of my European side. But I have decided to love, embrace, and celebrate it. We as Europeans only hurt people because we ourselves were deeply hurt and tortured for centuries on end. The cycle of violence can only stop when we reckon with our own trauma and the burning and drowning and raping of six million European women. They say forgive or become the oppressor. Let us forgive so we do not perpetuate the oppression committed to us too far back to remember. Remember who you really are, before the fear swept the land like fire.
The 2000 year old Yew Tree has spoken and she has said: "Welcome home my daughter." It's time for us all to come home to ourselves, where've that home or homes may be. It is time to love ourselves through all of our glory and all of our imperfections. It is time to find the resolve to continue the beautiful legacies of our ancestors and to actively work to rectify the not so beautiful legacies of our ancestors. It is never too late to redefine our culture and bring honor to our descendants. This is the path to freedom and joy and must be done in the spirit of deep self-love.
